SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - There aren't enough adjectives to describe Hunter Bordner's pitching performance Saturday.

The Tri-Valley junior tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 14 as the Dawgs blanked Schuylkill Haven 4-0 in a Schuylkill League Division II contest.

The victory is the seventh straight for Tri-Valley (7-1, 5-1 D-II), which moves into first place in Division II with the win. The loss was the Hurricanes' first of the season.

"He was fabulous. He threw great today, and he's capable of doing that," Tri-Valley coach Bob Felty Sr. said. "Hunter is something special, and I'm just glad to have him for this year and next year."

Bordner recorded 11 of his strikeouts in the first five innings after giving up a double to Haven's first batter of the game, Zavier Webb. Alec Bailey and Mike Feryo collected the only other hits for Haven (6-1, 4-1 D-II), while Bordner walked two.

The game was scoreless until the fifth, when Tri-Valley bunched five of its six hits to score three runs. Hunter Herb singled to start the frame. After a sacrifice bunt, Jaden Buchanan and Collin Maurer followed with RBI doubles and Bordner capped the rally with a run-scoring single.

The Dawgs added an insurance run in the seventh when Herb was hit by a pitch by reliever Ryan Fink with the bases loaded.

"We're swinging the bats pretty good, and we're making enough plays," Felty said of his team's win streak. "We're scoring runs and getting enough pitching to get us through."
