Quarterback: Difficult to judge the overall work of the quarterbacks, considering Christian Hackenberg played just three series and walk-ons D.J. Crook and Austin Whipple were harassed by the stout Blue defense. Freshman Michael O'Connor went 11-for-16 for 81 yards. GRADE: B

Running back: Again, very little from the starters. But backup Cole Chiappialle averaged 7 yards per carry. Akeel Lynch and Bill Belton combined for just four touches, and the White backs combined for just six yards. GRADE: C

Receiver: There weren't any bad drops, and plenty of players competing for time got reps. Kyle Carter had four catches. GRADE: B

Offensive line: Tough draw for a group that had to play a ton and really didn't have much depth to begin with. Backup center Wendy Laurent got hurt, and as depth eroded, the White team simply had nobody to protect Crook and Whipple. GRADE: C

Defensive line: Outstanding job all around. C.J. Olaniyan had five tackles and 2.5 sacks, both game highs. Austin Johnson and Anthony Zettel had strong efforts in the middle. Maybe the best group on the defense right now. GRADE: A

Linebacker: Nyeem Wartman and Ben Kline didn't play, so it's tough to judge this group since it wasn't at full capacity. Brandon Bell looked solid. GRADE: B

Secondary: All around, a nice job by a group that looked more aggressive than last year. Trevor Williams and Ryan Keiser both had interceptions, and Adrian Amos broke up a pass. GRADE: A-

Special: Sam Ficken made a 26-yard field goal and 5-of-6 of his extra point attempts. Chris Gulla averaged just 37.8 yards per punt. GRADE: C

Coaching: The staff did a good job getting this back to a more traditional game, as well as getting playing time for a lot of the backups who can compete for more snaps in the fall. They were excited, and the fans showed up en masse to support them. GRADE: A
