PINE GROVE - Austin Fick scattered four hits and struck out seven in a complete-game effort as Pine Grove defeated North Schuylkill 5-1 in a Schuylkill League Division I game Thursday at Stump Stadium.
Matt Smarkanic had a double and a triple for the Spartans, the triple tying the game at 1 in the third inning. The Cardinals regained the lead in the bottom of the third, then broke the game open with three runs in the fifth. Brian Reichert had an RBI single in the fifth.
Kobe D'Agostino had two hits for Pine Grove, which has won three straight and five of its last six.
Minersville 14 Williams Valley 1
TOWER CITY - Lukas Heffron went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs as Minersville crushed Williams Valley in a Division II game.
Aaron Fritz allowed just three hits and struck out five to get the complete-game victory, helping himself with a 2-for-4 effort that included a triple. Zack Brown picked up two RBIs for the Miners.
Tamaqua 7 Tri-Valley 2
HEGINS - Brett Kosciolek, Matt Roberts, Daylon Barron and Bo Rottet had run-scoring hits in a five-run seventh inning that propelled the Blue Raiders to a non-league win over the Dawgs.
Leading 2-1, Kosciolek singled, Roberts doubled, Barron singled and Rottet singled to score runs and help Tamaqua pull away. Rottet and Adam Bates each finished with three hits for the Raiders.
Connor Hartung scattered three hits over six strong innings, while Kosciolek pitched the seventh in his first action on the mound this season. The loss ended Tri-Valley's eight-game win streak.
Bethlehem Catholic 9 Pottsville 3
Travis Blankenhorn and Eli Nabholz each had a pair of hits, but the Crimson Tide dropped a non-league contest to the Hawks at Steidle Field.
Bethlehem Catholic took control with a six-run fourth inning, keyed by a two-run triple by Isaac Samuel.
Marian 19 Shenandoah Valley 7
MIDDLEPORT - K.J. Snerr, Frank Nietz and Austin Paisley each had three hits as Marian routed Shenandoah Valley in a high-scoring Division II game.
Rob Hinkle scored three times, had three RBIs and four stolen bases for the Colts, who stole 15 bases.
Ian McCole went 3-for-3 with four RBIs in the loss for the Blue Devils.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Alec Bailey went 3-for-3 but Schuylkill Haven lost to Oley Valley in a tight non-league game that had no errors and 18 combined hits.
Reading 5 Blue Mountain 3
READING - Austin Krammes went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Blue Mountain, but the Eagles lost to Reading in a non-league baseball game at George Field.
Krammes hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh with two outs, but the last-minute comeback rally fell short as the next batter popped out.

LANSFORD - Nolan Fegley went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Jason Richmond struck out six to help the Golden Bears top the Panthers for their first victory of the season.
Jake Szczecina and Jake Kusko each got an RBI single for the Panthers, who snapped a 27-inning scoreless streak in the fifth.

MILLERSBURG - Kyle Glouner tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out four as the Trojans blanked the Indians in a Tri-Valley League contest.
Tanner Miller and Aaron Cleveland each had two hits for Upper Dauphin, with Caleb Hoch's two-run single keying a four-run third inning that broke the game open.

JIM THORPE - Bryce Micciche knocked in two RBIs but Jim Thorpe committed nine errors as the Olympians fell to Northwestern Lehigh in a non-league game.
PSU-Schuylkill takes 2 from PSU-Scranton
CRESSONA - Wade Bressler struck out six over five innings to earn the win and Bryan Dimon tripled and homered as Penn State Schuylkill topped Penn State Scranton 14-1 in Game 1 of a PSUAC doubleheader.
In Game 2, Chris Kreider went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Dimon and Winn Allen each hit home runs as Penn State Schuylkill beat Penn State Scranton 16-3 to sweep the doubleheader.
