ORWIGSBURG - Pine Grove pitcher Kobe D'Agostino scattered four hits and Brian Reichert hit a two-run double in the Cardinals' three-run third inning as Pine Grove defeated Blue Mountain 5-2 in a Schuylkill League Division I game Saturday.
D'Agostino struck out 12 and helped his own cause with two hits. Reichert's double was one of his two hits in the game, while Nick Cataldo added a double and single.
Sean Greenawalt doubled for Blue Mountain, which lost Dave Kyslinger for the game when he was hit in the mouth by a pitch while at the plate. Kyslinger underwent oral surgery after the injury.
North Schuylkill 5 Hamburg 1
HAMBURG - Matt Smarkanic went 2-for-4 with a double and pitched six strong innings, giving up only one run, as North Schuylkill topped Hamburg in non-league baseball.
Joey Cominsky hit the game's only triple as Hamburg took its second loss of the season.
Minersville 9 Shenandoah Valley 1
MINERSVILLE - Aaron Fritz hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning and Matt Roberts had two hits and two RBIs to power Minersville past Shenandoah Valley in a Division II game.
Dylan Stephen struck out seven over six innings to pick up the win for the Miners.
Minersville 10 Mount Carmel 7
MINERSVILLE - Mitch Haney and Jonathan McBreen each had a two-run double as Minersville outslugged Mount Carmel in the consolation game of the Russ Rothermel Tournament.
Haney finished with three hits for the Miners, who have won four straight.
Muhlenberg 4 Pottsville 2
READING - Darion Jacoby, Ty Painter and Mike Kuperavage each had two hits, but Muhlenberg stopped Pottsville in a non-league game.
Jacoby and Painter each posted RBIs for the Crimson Tide, while pitcher Tyler Moser took the loss despite a complete-game effort.
Daulton Fidler and Eli Klick, whose fifth-inning RBI single gave the Muhls the lead to stay, posted three hits each for Muhlenberg. Klick finished with two RBIs for the winners, who added two hits each by Tyler Sassaman and Joshua Kline.

LANSFORD - Mark Williams hit a three-run home run in the first inning to lead Panther Valley over Lincoln Leadership Academy in a non-league game.
Williams also had a double and four RBIs and teammate Kyle Ferryman went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Panthers, who captured their first victory of the season. Jake Kusko limited Lincoln Leadership to one hit in a complete-game effort.
Lehighton 5 Panther Valley 2
LANSFORD - Kyle Ferryman went 2-for-3, but Panther Valley lost to Lehighton in the Panthers' second non-league game of the day.
Darren Goida and Nate Hrebik each had RBI singles for Panther Valley.
Upper Dauphin splits 2 at Shamokin
SHAMOKIN - Matt Deitrich and Mac Ney combined for six hits and six RBIs as the Trojans used a five-run top of the seventh to beat Troy 11-6 in Game 1 of the Shamokin Tournament.
On the hill, Tanner Miller and Ney combined to strikeout 11 batters, with Ney getting the win.
In the championship game, Deitrich hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, but the Trojans lost to Line Mountain 5-4.
Upper Dauphin left 10 runners on base in the second game and 22 total in both games. They also committed six errors in the loss against the Tri-Valley League rival Eagles.

JIM THORPE - Ricky Saez had two hits, including a double and an RBI, but Jim Thorpe lost to Lehighton in a non-league game.
The Indians used a three-run fifth inning get the win over the Olympians.
Halifax 6 Williams Valley 3
HALIFAX - The Wildcats broke a 2-2 tie with a three-run fourth inning to hand the Vikings their fifth straight defeat in a non-league game.
Penn State Schuylkill, Brandywine split pair
MEDIA - Jordan Blankenhorn and Bryan Dimon each collected two hits and three RBIs as Penn State Schuylkill beat Penn State Brandywine 9-8 in Game 1 of a PSUAC doubleheader.
Ryan Boyer struck out seven and picked up a hit with an RBI as he got the win and Dimon got the save for PSU- Schuylkill.
Wesley Waite picked up PSU-Schuylkill's only hit of Game 2 as they were shut out by PSU-Brandywine 8-0 to split the doubleheader.
