BARNESVILLE - Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association president Mike Farr of Schuylkill Haven announced the organization selected the dates for its annual preseason media press conference and all-star football game at a recent meeting at Mountain Valley Golf Course.

In addition, an invitation will be extended to Lehighton, which is joining the Anthracite Football League this year, to participate in all of the organization's events. PIAA rules allow for participation in two all-star games, which will allow Lehighton to continue its participation in the Lehigh Valley all-star game each summer.

This year's preseason media conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Mountain Valley.

The SCFCA All-Star Game will have a North-South format and will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Rotary Field, Schuylkill Haven, with Lehighton being a member of the North. Depending on postseason participation, Mark Rosenberger of Jim Thorpe will be North head coach, and Tim Savage of Williams Valley will be South head coach.

A committee of AFL coaches has been formed to evaluate game officials and is chaired by Stan Dakosty of Marian. Committee members are Pat Mason, Minersville; Matt Davis, Panther Valley; and Rosenberger, Jim Thorpe.

SHILLINGTON - Justin Abdo and Kory Kleckner each had two kills for Pottsville's boys' volleyball team in its 25-5, 25-19, 25-11 Berks League Section I loss to Governor Mifflin on Tuesday night.

Kleckner added two digs and a block for the Crimson Tide (0-13, 0-9 Berks I).

John Smith had seven kills and two blocks for Governor Mifflin.

Rain forced the postponement of the region's other sports events Tuesday. A list of postponements and make-up dates is in the Scoreboard on Page 15.
