Snerr, Nietz combine for 5 hits, 2 extra-base hits in Marian's triumph

TOWER CITY - K.J. Snerr went 3-for-3 with a double and Frank Nietz went 2-for-4 with a triple as Marian crushed Williams Valley 13-2 Thursday in a six-inning Schuylkill League Division II baseball game.

Luke Stawick had a game-high four RBIs and teammate Josh Inama had two hits and drove in three runs for the Colts.

Peter Baddick pitched a complete game to pick up the win for Marian and helped himself with a pair of hits at the plate.

Jarred Matter went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Vikings.

Williams Valley committed three errors in the third inning, including a dropped fly ball that would have ended it. Marian capitalized by scoring four runs.

Raiders, Hawks suspended after 11

HAMBURG - Matt Roberts went 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs for Tamaqua and Thomas Romoho went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Hamburg as the Blue Raiders and the Hawks tied 6-6 in a suspended game after 11 innings.

Bo Rottet and Adam Bates each had three hits and teammate Nate MacDonald had two for Tamaqua.

Joey Cominsky had two RBIs and Janson Youndt had two hits for Hamburg.

No make-up date for the game has been announced.

H.S. Softball Liberty 2 Pottsville 1

Nicole Iasiello hit a solo home run in the second inning as Liberty edged Pottsville in a non-league game.

Morgan Alisauckas' RBI groundout in the fifth drove in Pottsville's run. Gabby Bentz had two singles, while Caitlyn Herndon doubled for the Crimson Tide.

Nativity 17 Shenandoah Valley 1

Winning pitcher Allie Miske went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and five RBIs to lead the Golden Girls to a Division III win atop Lawton's Hill.

Also for Nativity, Steph Killian went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and three runs scored; Lauren Palko went 2-for-2 with three runs scored; Erin Luckenbill clubbed a two-run double; Ryleigh Walaconis doubled, tripled and knocked in two runs; and Dez Reigel hit a solo home run.

An RBI single in the top of the third inning by Shenandoah Valley's Marissa Szczyglak tied the game at 1. Nativity scored 12 runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Hamburg 9 Berks Catholic 3

READING - Darlene Ruiz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the third inning and Courtney Graham knocked in two runs as Hamburg topped Berks Catholic in Berks League Section II action.

Rebecca Blatt and Erica Lutz each went 3-for-4 in the win for the Hawks.

Williams Valley 10 Schuylkill Haven 0

TOWER CITY - Haley Nestor went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to power the Vikings to a Division II victory.

Winning pitcher Cassidy Pinchorski helped herself with a two-run home run in the third inning. Pinchorski allowed one hit and struck out 10 in four innings of work before leaving the game because of an injury.

Tianna Yanoscak struck out three in two innings of relief.

Marian 13 Lourdes 6

HOMETOWN - Lindsay Nemeth went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI as the Fillies outslugged the Red Raiders in a Division II-III crossover game.

Kaitlin Kowker added two singles, three RBIs and two runs scored for Marian, which led 9-0 after three innings.

Caity Funk had two singles and two RBIs for Lourdes.
