Schuylkill League baseball fans received a present Friday:

An opportunity to watch the league's two remaining teams play for a chance to reach the state title game at the same site, on the same day.

The PIAA announced Friday that District 11 champions Schuylkill Haven and Tamaqua will be part of a semifinal doubleheader Monday at Parkland High School.

The Hurricanes (20-6) will take on District 1 champion Devon Prep (14-8) in a Class A semifinal at 4 p.m., while the Blue Raiders (20-6) will battle District 1 champion Pope John Paul II (21-6) in a Class AAA semifinal at 6:30 p.m.

The winners will advance to Friday's PIAA state championship games at Penn State University's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, with the Class A title game at 3:30 p.m. and the Class AAA final at 6 p.m.

In softball, Minersville will attempt to reach the PIAA championship game for the 10th time when it faces District 1 champion Bristol at 1 p.m. at Patriots Park in Allentown.

The Miners advanced with a 12-2, five-inning rout of District 3 champion Halifax on Thursday. Bristol moved on with a 5-0 victory over South Williamsport on Friday.

The PIAA Class A softball state championship game is slated for 3 p.m. Friday at Penn State's Nittany Lion Softball Park.
