Rotary wins Pottsville duel

Darren Yost and Cooper Chiplonia each had two hits and Raeff DiCello tripled to lead a balanced Pottsville Rotary attack in a 9-5 win over Railway Park in a District 24 Little League 9-10-Year-Old Pool 3 All-Star game Monday night.

Bryce Jenkins, Mike Sukeena, Joe Palco and Javon Jacoby all added singles for Rotary

Rotary is the Pool 3 champion and improved its tournament record to 4-0.

Sukeena picked up the win, with Jacoby coming on in relief in the fifth.

Amari Dunn led Railway Park with two hits.

Upper Dauphin 13 Mahanoy City 3

GRATZ - Zak Underkoffler was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs battled in as Upper Dauphin County overcame an early deficit to down Mahanoy City in a Pool 1 contest.

Mahanoy City got out to a 3-0 advantage after the top of the first. Upper Dauphin County scored a run in the bottom of the first and took the lead for good with a three-run third.

A single by Underkoffler drove in what was the game-winning run.

Owen Shoop had four hits for Upper Dauphin County, while Wil Laskowski added three and Nick Joseph, Dawson Klinger and Landon Mace had two apiece.

Mace had a triple, with Lakowski, Shoop and Brady Evans hitting doubles.

Millersburg 10 Pine Grove/Tremont 0

MILLERSBURG - Kyle Casner tripled twice and drove in three runs to lead Millersburg over Pine Grove/Tremont in a four-inning, District 24 Little League Pool 2 game.

Mason Engle added two RBIs for Millersburg, while Elijah Latshaw and Kyle Long both added two hits.

Engle threw a one-hit complete-game shutout, striking out six. Makaio Wertz had Pine Grove/Tremont's lone hit.

Little League Softball Minersville begins Section 3 play tonight

MINERSVILLE - District 24 champion Minersville will begin play in the four-team, double-elimination Section 3 Little League Major Division Tournament (ages 11-12) tonight in Minersville.

Minersville will face District 12 champion Williamsport at 5:30 p.m. on Field 2. District 13 winner Milton and District 15 champion Wellsboro square off in the other first-round game at 5:30 p.m. on Field 1.

Action continues in the double-elimination through the championship round set for Friday and Saturday.
