Mason Evans was simply perfect Sunday.
The Upper Dauphin County 11-year-old tossed a four-inning perfect game and went 5-for-5 at the plate as UDC hammered Railway Park 27-0 in a District 24 Little League 10-11-year-old game at Railway Park.
The victory completes a perfect run through Pool 2 for UDC, which will host the Pool 1 runner-up in Friday's semifinals.
Evans struck out eight and walked none in his gem, retiring all 12 Railway Park batters on 46 pitches.
He was backed by a 26-hit attack that included a 5-for-5 effort by Jacob Herman and a 4-for-4 day by Nathan Wise. Wise, Herman and Jesse Engle hit home runs, while Herman had six RBIs and Wise and Evans each had five RBIs.
In its four pool games, UDC has outscored its opponents 89-3. All total, the three Upper Dauphin County all-star teams are a combined 14-0 in District 24 play so far.
Schuylkill Haven 14 Ashland 9
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Jake Houtz and Mason Irwin both had three hits to lead Schuylkill Haven to a victory and clinch a District 24 10-11 year-old playoff spot.
Houtz tripled and Irwin added three RBIs. Mike McGoey, Jamyn Turner and Donovan Dress each had two hits for Haven.
Averi Baney had two hits, a home run and three RBIs to lead Ashland.
Schuylkill Haven plays at Cressona in the semifinals Friday.
Cressona 19 SPN 1
CRESSONA - Brody Robinson had three hits, including an inside-the-park homer, as Cressona finished unbeaten in Pool 1 with a four-inning rout of Saint Clair/Port Carbon/New Philadelphia.
Ryan Caulfield and Gavin Bartholomew each had two hits for Cressona, while Keenan Cryts and Kegan Hertz combined on a one-hitter.
Cressona will host Schuylkill Haven in the 10-11-year-old semifinals Friday.
Orwigsburg 6 Pine Grove/Tremont 2
ORWIGSBURG - Shane DaSilva pitched 5.1 strong innings and Lorenzo Valenti had a double and a triple as Orwigsburg defeated Pine Grove/Tremont in a Pool 1 game.
DaSilva struck out four and walked one, and helped his cause with a double. Anthony Zeplin got the final two outs.
Carter Griffith collected a pair of singles for Orwigsburg (2-1), which can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight over Minersville (1-2).
9-10-year-olds Ashland 15 Millersburg 2
ASHLAND - Tanner Walacavage had three hits as Ashland clinched the Pool 2 championship with a four-inning victory over Millersburg in a battle of unbeaten teams.
Ashland (4-0) will host Saint Clair/Port Carbon/New Philadelphia in the 9-10-year-old semifinals today at 5:30 p.m. Rotary visits Upper Dauphin County in the other semifinal tonight.
Evan Stanakis and Dillon O'Neill each had two hits for Ashland. Walacavage was the winning pitcher, striking out seven and giving up three hits.
