After a week of hitting each other, all 20 area high school football teams finally had the opportunity Saturday morning to block and tackle somebody in a different colored jersey.
The first week of preseason football camp ended with scrimmages across the area as coaches and players found out which plays are working and which plays and positions still need a lot of work.
The second week of drills will commence Monday, with teams’ second scrimmage set for Thursday or Friday.
All of their work is leading up to the opening night of the regular season, Friday, Aug. 29.
The Republican-Herald’s annual preseason football preview tabloid will appear in the Sunday, Aug. 24, edition.
