Free trapping course at area Fish and Game

Members of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association District 11 will present a Pennsylvania Game Commission approved Basic Trapping Course on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Auburn Game and Fish Association Clubhouse, located on River Road, one-half mile off Route 895, off Fort Lebanon Road, Auburn.

This free course is open to all ages and includes lunch, but youth must have parental consent and all participants must preregister by Monday, Sept. 8, by contacting Brian Mohn at (610) 562-1790 or emailing papatrees@aol.com. This is a hands-on course, participants are advised to wear old clothing and bring hip or knee boots.

Topics to be covered include preparing equipment; techniques for land trapping fox and coyote; techniques for water trapping mink, muskrat, raccoon and beaver; preparing and marketing fur; and wildlife management regulations.

Seniors need annual trout stamp in 2015

Beginning in 2015, Pennsylvanians who purchase a senior resident lifetime license and want to fish for trout will be required to purchase a trout/salmon permit each year. Seniors who purchase a trout/salmon permit in conjunction with a resident lifetime license before Jan. 1, 2015, will be grandfathered.
