The championship match of Saturday’s North Schuylkill Invitational Volleyball Tournament became a rematch.
Two days after Panther Valley edged Pine Grove 3-2 in a Schuylkill League Division II contest, the Panthers stopped the Cardinals 25-22 in the title game of the tournament at North Schuylkill.
Jamey Mikovich had five kills for Panther Valley in the championship match as Panther Valley completed an unbeaten day.
The Panthers went 6-0 in their four-team pool and defeated Millersburg 25-20 in the semifinal round.
Pine Grove and Millersburg each went 4-2 in their pool, but the Cardinals earned the top seed on points differential.
Pine Grove then beat Minersville 25-22 in the semifinal round. Minersville had tied North Schuylkill for second place in its pool and then beat the Spartans 25-20 in a playoff for the semifinal spot.
In the third-place match, Millersburg defeated Minersville 25-23.

BERWICK — Leah Guzick had 16 service points, 22 assists and three aces as Pottsville (2-2) beat Berwick 25-3, 25-11, 25-19 in a non-league match.
Kendra Boris added 16 service points and Lilly Seiders recorded seven kills for the Crimson Tide, whose JV team won 2-0.

BIRDSBORO — Brittney Moyer tallied 21 digs, 10 kills and five aces as Blue Mountain (3-0) rallied for a 23-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-11 victory over Daniel Boone.
Ashley Snesavage had 23 assists and five kills, Maya Throne posted 25 digs and Lexi Juritsch tallied 18 digs and two kills for the Eagles.

BANGOR — Erin Shigo recorded 14 kills, 10 aces and eight digs to give Jim Thorpe (1-2) a 25-8, 25-17, 25-15 win over Pius X.

CATASAUQUA — Alyssa Jordan had 10 kills and four aces, Tori Eads-Rodriguez posted 10 assists and five aces and Andrea Schafer had eight aces as Lehighton (4-1) beat Catasauqua 25-2, 25-6, 25-9 in a non-league match.

LEWISTOWN — Laura Sweger had 11 kills, four blocks and three aces, and Kelsey Hoffman added 19 service points and two aces as Upper Dauphin (3-0) topped Mifflin County 25-11, 25-17, 26-14 in a non-league match.
