Saturday's Boys' Soccer Roundup

Tyler Wright recorded a hat trick and Shea Golden added a goal as Pottsville defeated Williams Valley 5-0 in a non-league boys’ soccer match Saturday at Alumni Field.

Fernando Rivera had two assists and goalkeeper Kyle Brennan stopped all 10 shots he faced to complete the shutout for Pottsville, which improved to 4-0.

JIM THORPE — Tyler Yeakel scored the game-winning goal on a free kick to give the Hurricanes a non-league win over the Olympians.

Adam Wessner added a goal for Schuylkill Haven, whose defense, led by Luis Taylor, Justin Gerber, Blake Handling and goalkeeper Brad Fryer, held the Olympians just one goal on six shots.

Cody Geiser scored the only goal for Jim Thorpe.

Blue Mountain falls

in suspended tourney

ELVERSON — Blue Mountain was shut out 2-0 by host Twin Valley in the opening semifinal of the Raider Classic before the remainder of the event was rained out.

No date to resume the tournament was announced.

Blue Mountain matched Twin Valley in shots on goal, but the Raiders scored once in each half to win.

Hawks finish 2nd

at Seitzinger Tourney

HAMBURG — Trent Moyer had a goal and an assist to lead Muhlenberg to a 3-0 shutout of Hamburg during the championship game of the Taylor N. Seitzinger Memorial Tournament on Hawk Hill.

Jacob Dipillo and Allen Lau added goals for the Spartans, who scored all three of their goals in the first half.

The Hawks reached the championship game with a 1-0 overtime win over Eastern York in the semifinals.

Marcel Grandau scored the game-winner with 4:16 left in overtime to give Hamburg the win. Bailey Berger had five saves for the Hawks.

Wyomissing beat Muhlenberg 1-0 in the other semifinal. Muhlenberg then blanked Eastern York 4-0 in the consolation game.
