Indians outlast Tri-Valley

MILLERSBURG — Coming off a third-place finish in the North Schuylkill Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Millersburg has thrust itself into the thick of the Schuylkill League’s Division III race.

Amber Roach scored 15 service points with three kills, 35 assists and six digs to lead the Indians to a 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 16-14 victory over division co-leader Tri-Valley on Monday in a Division III match.

Samantha Hines chipped in 13 kills and 22 digs, while Taryn Herb contributed nine kills, three blocks and 21 digs for Millersburg.

Cat Troutman led Tri-Valley with 10 kills, Alexis Artz added 25 digs and Reagan Newswanger tallied 33 assists.

Millersburg’s JV won 2-0.

Halifax 3

Williams Valley 0

TOWER CITY — Shannon Buggy registered seven aces, 15 digs and a kill as the Wildcats downed the Vikings 25-13, 25-19, 25-17 in a Division III match.

Amber Laudenslager collected two aces, seven kills and 10 digs, and Autumn Capouillez contributed 14 assists, four kills, six digs and four aces for Halifax.

Jenna Daniel registered five kills, Bindy Boyer added nine assists and Olivia Ancheff tallied five kills, five digs and seven service points for Williams Valley, which won the JV match 2-0.

Nativity 3

Weatherly 0

Jocelyn Holobetz collected four digs, 11 kills and four aces as the division-leading Green Wave swept the Wreckers 25-18, 25-22, 25-8 in a Division IV match atop Lawton’s Hill.

Laura Bolich contributed five aces and one dig, Noelle Steele totalled 22 assists, one dig, two kills and four aces and Desiree Reigel added four assists, three digs and one ace for Nativity.

Lexi Hartz recorded four aces and 11 service points and Jackie Gillott had five service points and one ace for Weatherly.

Minersville 3

Mahanoy Area 0

MAHANOY CITY — Minersville continued the momentum from its fourth-place finish in the North Schuylkill Tournament with a 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 triumph over Mahanoy Area in a Division IV match.

Meg Schwalm paced the Battlin’ Miners with 20 digs and five aces. Stef Curran added six kills, while Cassidy Mason posted 13 assists and nine digs.

Mahanoy Area gained 11 kills, two aces, 10 assists and six digs from Noelle Kaufman. Mychaellah Lucas added six kills, 14 assists, two aces and nine digs.

Mahanoy Area took the JV match 2-1.

Schuylkill Haven 3

Shenandoah Valley 2

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Maddy Felty collected four blocks, five kills and 11 service points as the Hurricanes claimed a 19-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-13, 15-12 Division IV win over the Blue Devils.

Lexi Grady totaled 13 kills, Kristina Nieddu had 10 points, four aces and 27 assists, and Mariah Sands wracked up 14 points, three aces, seven kills and 14 digs for Shenandoah Valley.

Tori Pascucci added 16 service points while Julie Hartz recorded six kills for Schuylkill Haven, which won the JV match 2-0.

Blue Mountain 3

Muhlenberg 0

ORWIGSBURG — Ashley Snesavage registered 30 assists, five digs, two kills and two aces as the Eagles swept the Muhls 25-18, 25-10, 25-23 in a non-league match.

Nicole McQuillan had six kills and four blocks, Brittney Moyer contributed 15 kills, 11 digs and two aces and Maya Throne tallied 20 digs and two aces for Blue Mountain, which won the JV duel 2-0.

NW Lehigh 2

JIM THORPE — Riley Carroll dished out 15 assists to complement three kills, five digs and an ace as the Olympians edged the Tigers 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 15-25, 15-13 in a non-league match.

Erin Shigo added 14 kills, five aces and 14 digs, Makenzie Walck totaled six kills, five aces and nine digs, and Alex McGinley had 19 digs and one kill for Jim Thorpe.

PSU-Lehigh Valley 3

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Kristina Johnson tallied six assists and two aces as Penn State Schuylkill dropped a Penn State University Athletic Conference match to Penn State Lehigh Valley, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15, in PSU- Schuylkill’s opener.

Maria Naradko, a Pottsville graduate, added eight digs, while Blue Mountain alumnae Michelle O’Dell contributed six aces and three kills for the local Lions.
