MIDDLEPORT - Matt Minchhoff's RBI single in the eighth inning drove home Matt Roberts with the winning run as seventh-seeded Tamaqua upset No. 2 Schuylkill Valley 5-4 in a Schuylkill-Berks Legion North Division playoff contest Saturday evening.
Trailing 4-3 in the seventh, Luke Matsago laid down a squeeze bunt that allowed Roberts to score the tying run for the Blue Sox.
The Falcons scored three runs in the second inning as Mike Bolinsky and Eddy Vaz collected RBI singles and Bolinsky later scored on an error.
Tamaqua tied the game in the fourth when Harold Moll scored on a wild pitch, Derek Rottet hit an RBI single and Roberts later added an RBI single.
After Schuylkill Valley re-took the lead when Kyle Kaledas scored on a throwing error on a fielder's choice in the sixth, Matsago knotted the game at 4 with his squeeze bunt.
The Blue Sox advance in the winners' bracket to face Southern Area at 5 p.m. today. Schuylkill Valley drops to the losers' bracket and will host Pottsville at 5 p.m. today.

ORWIGSBURG - Shane Grapsy hit a two-run, go-ahead double with two outs in the sixth inning to lead the A's past the Lions in the Schuylkill-Berks Legion North Division playoffs.
Grapsy also threw a complete game, striking out four and walking two.
Pottsville scored its runs in the first two innings via a Mike Kuperavage sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout by Ryan Kalinich.

HAMBURG - Joey Cominsky allowed just two hits and struck out six, helping the Reds to a five-inning victory over the Angels in a South Division playoff contest.
Cominsky helped himself at the dish, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Jacob Leinkewicz contributed a 2-for-3 night with two runs scored, while Willie Sandman was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

ORWIGSBURG - Southern Area pitchers combined to allow just two hits, but Liberty still found a way to win in beating Southern Area in a Prep Division game.
Chase Sincavage recorded two hits and teammate Jack McKivigan scored Southern Area's lone run.

Ryan Cappel threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout to lead Southern Area past Pottsville on Friday.
Southern Area got on the board early, scoring five runs in the first two innings. Cappel and Chase Sincavage each collected two-run singles while teammate Eric Freeman added an RBI single.
Legion Youth Southern Area 3 Hamburg 2
AUBURN - Brandon Baver's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning allowed the Junior A's to capture a walk-off win over Hamburg.
With the game tied at 2, Justin Hammer opened the seventh with a walk. After Robbie Oliver executed a sacrifice bunt, Hammer stole third. Christian Puzzi walked and stole second before Baver ripped a pitch into right field for the game-winner.
Muhlenberg 9 Pottsville 1
Nick Baucum singled and scored a run as the Lions fell to the Athletics.
Ryan Kalinich also singled, while Matt Lescavage doubled and pitched 2.1 innings, striking out five for Pottsville.
