Times, dates for soccer playoffs changed

The playing dates and starting times for several District 11 soccer quarterfinals involving Schuylkill County teams have been changed.

Here’s a list of those games affected:

Boys’ Class A

• Williams Valley at Schuylkill Haven, moved to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, first game of a doubleheader

• Lehigh Valley Christian at Pine Grove, moved to 5 p.m. Thursday

Boys’ Class AA

• Palisades at Blue Mountain, moved to 5:30 p.m. Thursday

Girls’ Class A

• Minersville at Palmerton, moved to 6 p.m. Thursday

• Tri-Valley at Schuylkill Haven, moved to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, second game of doubleheader

• Moravian Academy at Williams Valley, moved to 4:30 p.m. Thursday

Hamburg 4

Westmont Hilltop 1

ALTOONA — Hamburg improved to 16-4 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the PIAA Class AA Team Tournament with a victory over District 6 champion Westmont Hilltop at the Pro-Care Tennis Club.

The Hawks will oppose either District 9 champion Punxsutawney or District 7 runner-up Indiana in the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Hershey Racquet Club.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Tommy Nygen had two goals and Jordan Fobia collected two assists as the Red Raiders downed the Spartans in a non-league contest Monday.

Noah Swadi scored both goals for North Schuylkill, while Shane McGrath had 15 saves.

Millersburg 3

Shamokin 1

MILLERSBURG — Taryn Herb served 15 points and added 11 kills, 15 digs and eight blocks as Millersburg beat Shamokin 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 27-25 in a non-league game.

The Indians added 26 assists by Amber Roach, 12 digs by Kori Hirsch, 14 digs and 11 service points by Kelsey Koppenhaver and 14 kills by Samantha Hines.

Millersburg won the JV match 2-1.
