MAC honor roll

ANNVILLE — Lebanon Valley College junior fullback Billy Powanda, a Minersville grad, was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference’s weekly football honor roll.

Powanda scored four touchdowns in the Dutchmen’s 30-29 overtime loss to Lycoming, tying a school record. He scored on runs of 3, 4, 1 and 1 yards, with two touchdowns coming in the fourth quarter and another in overtime.

The 5-foot-9, 208-pound Powanda has carried 18 times for 54 yards this season and is tied for the team lead with eight rushing touchdowns.

Kickoff set for

PSU-Temple game

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State’s game Saturday against Temple has been set for a noon kickoff. ESPN2, the Penn State Sports Network and GoPSUsports.com will air the contest from Beaver Stadium.

The Nittany Lions (5-4) host the Owls (5-4) in the final non-conference game of the season. The teams are scheduled to play in each of the next three seasons, including the Sept. 5, 2015, season opener at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

PSU’s Amos, Hull in Senior Bowl

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State safety Adrian Amos and linebacker Mike Hull have accepted invitations to participate in the 66th Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. and will be televised by the NFL Network.

Amos has made a team-high 34 consecutive starts for the Nittany Lions. A starter at safety and cornerback over the past three seasons, he has recorded 24 tackles (16 solo), and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

Elected a co-captain before the season, Hull was selected first-team Mid-season All-Big Ten by ESPN.com and Phil Steele’s College Football. Hull leads the Big Ten and is ninth nationally in total tackles per game (11.0) and he is second in the Big Ten and is 15th nationally in solo stops per contest (56, 6.2 avg.). He has 99 tackles (56 solo), with 8.5 TFL (minus-25), two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and two pass break-ups.
