Reading’s 2015
Hall of Fame class
READING — Former Reading Phillies standouts Scott Rolen and Dan Held will be inducted into the Reading Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 2, with the Fightin Phils host the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium. The duo will be honored during a special pre-game ceremony.
Rolen and Held were members of Reading’s 1995 Eastern League championship team.
Rolen, who homered in his first Double-A at-bat, arrived in Reading on Aug. 15, 1995, and returned to Reading the following season. He hit .349 with 12 homers, 25 doubles and 57 RBIs with Reading before being promoted to Triple-A on June 16, 1996.
Held also arrived in Reading late in 1995 and went on to hit 26 homers in both 1996 and ‘97. His 53 career home runs with the Reading Phillies stood as the franchise record until Gary Burnham broke it in 2006. Held played nine seasons in the minors with the Phillies and Mets before becoming a minor league hitting coach in 2002.
