ELIZABETHVILLE — Matt Miller scored 11 points, including four free throws in the final minutes, as Upper Dauphin held off Schuylkill Haven 47-44 in the boys’ championship game of the Upper Dauphin Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening.

Jordan Gessner hit the back end of a pair of free throws to seal it as the Trojans capitalized on 16 offensive boards on the night. Alex Uhler added 10 points for Upper Dauphin.

The Trojans built a 25-17 lead at the half before the Hurricanes held a 13-9 scoring advantage in the third quarter pull to within 34-20.

Danny Blugis had a game-high 15 points for Schuylkill Haven, while Austin Charles added eight and Zavier Webb seven.

COAL TOWNSHIP — Jordan Fobia tallied a team-high 13 points, but the host Red Raiders fell to Meadowbrook Christian in the championship of the Red Raider Tip-Off Tournament.

Larry Czeponis added nine points and seven rebounds for Lourdes, which fell behind 23-15 at the half. The Red Raiders were then down 35-20 after three quarters.

Justin Ziegmont had 12 points and Jericho Zemencik added 11 for Tri-Valley, which raced out to 37-0 advantage at the half.

The Hawks lost to Octorara 83-29 in the first round Friday. Adams led Hamburg with nine points.

EAST STROUDSBURG — Brett Kosciolek poured in a game-high 27 points as the Raiders opened the season with a non-league victory Friday over the Spartans.

Bo Rottet added 12 points for Tamaqua, which got out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. The Raiders were also 20-of-27 from the foul line in the game.
