H.S. Swimming Roundup for January 18

LAURELDALE — Blue Mountain’s Nathanael Marino won a pair of events and Schuylkill Haven’s Mary Zimmerman captured gold in the 100 freestyle as swimmers from three local schools competed in the annual Muhlenberg Mayhem swimming invitational.

Marino won the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. He also teamed with Mark Boran, Stephen Johnson and Joey McLaughlin to place third in the 200 medley relay and second in the 200 freestyle relay.

Boran added a pair of individual medals in the 13-team boys’ competition, grabbing bronze in the 100 backstroke and fourth in the 500 freestyle. Schuylkill Haven’s Ian McGowan and Mahanoy Area’s Liam Mansell each earned a pair of top-eight finishes.

Zimmerman went home with four medals, taking fourth in the 500 freestyle and teaming with Allison Adams, Taylor Felty and Kali Muthersbaugh to place second in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Adams added an individual medal by taking third in the 50 freestyle.

Erica Donohue was third in the 100 breaststroke for Blue Mountain, which was fourth in a pair of relays.
