Tamaqua seeks

pair of varsity head coaches

TAMAQUA — The Tamaqua Area School District is seeking candidates for two varsity head coaching positions.

Applications will be accepted for the positions of head boys’ soccer coach and head girls’ volleyball coach.

Applicants should send letters of interest, coaching and professional resumes and references to Mike Hromyak, athletic director, at 500 Penn St., Tamaqua, Pa., 18252, or email to

mhromyak@tamaqua.k12.pa.us by Friday, Feb. 6.

The boys’ soccer position is open after Ian Blyth compiled a 12-22-1 mark, 8-13-1 in the Schuylkill League, over the past two seasons.

The girls’ volleyball coaching position is open after Stacy Setlock had coached the team for six seasons. The Blue Raiders have been held to seven dual-match wins, three in the Schuylkill League, over the past three seasons.

Big Diamond to be honored

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. — Big Diamond Speedway will be one of four tracks recognized Thursday, March 5, during the Eighth Annual Dirt Track Heroes Car Show at Phillipsburg Mall, located off Route 22.

Big Diamond will join New Egypt, Bridgeport and Grandview speedways as part of the 6:30 p.m. program, which includes driver interviews.

In addition, cars that compete at the speedway will be displayed in the week-long show, which begins Sunday, March 1, and continues through Saturday, March 7.

The show hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the remaining days.
