6 area schools prep

for archery event

Students from six area schools, including three from Schuylkill County, are among the 44 that have registered for the 2015 National Archery in the Schools Program State Tournament. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the tournament is Friday, March 13, at State College.

Representing Schuylkill County are Williams Valley High School, Pine Grove Middle School and Gillingham Charter School. Other schools participating from the area are Upper Dauphin High School and middle school, Halifax High School and middle school and Millersburg High School.

Nearly 900 students from all grades are expected to compete on 95 lanes of two archers each. Participants will have the opportunity to qualify for the national tournament, May 7-9 in Louisville, Kentucky.
