HS BASEBALL ROUNDUP: UDA rallies past Line Mountain

MANDATA — For five innings, Upper Dauphin’s offense was silent.

With one swing of the bat, Kyle Glouner woke up the Trojans.

Glouner’s two-run homer triggered a seven-run sixth inning that lifted Upper Dauphin to a come-from-behind, 7-3 victory over Line Mountain in a Tri-Valley League East Division game Tuesday.

Line Mountain built a 3-0 lead through five frames as Kellen Masser stifled the UDA attack.

In the sixth, Casey Wise drew a walk before Glouner’s home run. Matt Dietrich drew another walk, Aaron Cleveland was hit by a pitch and Kolby Bond walked to load the bases for Kaleb Hoch, who delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 3. Then with two outs, Travis Dietrich connected for a two-run single to put Upper Dauphin ahead to stay.

The victory keeps Upper Dauphin undefeated in Tri-Valley League play.

SHENANDOAH — A two-run single by Anthony Micholik and an RBI single by Darren Goida keyed a four-run second inning that propelled the Panthers past the Devils in a Schuylkill League Division III contest.

Tristan Blasko added an RBI single in the seventh for insurance for Panther Valley.

Shenandoah Valley cut into a four-run deficit with Erick Cespedes’ RBI double in the second that scored Clarence Grutza. Nick Krusinsky made it a two-run game with an RBI single in the sixth.

Goida finished a complete-game effort with nine strikeouts for PV, while Josh Jacavage collected nine strikeouts over six innings for the Blue Devils.

Marcus Renninger’s two-run single in the fifth tied the game, and Dominic Piccioni’s RBI single in the sixth gave the Hilltoppers the lead for good in a Division II triumph over the Vikings atop Lawton’s Hill.

Kenny Ross went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Andrew Underkoffler collected three RBIs for Williams Valley, which led 5-0 at one point.

Nativity answered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie, then capitalized on four bases-loaded walks and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to tally six runs in the sixth.

Renninger finished with three RBIs, while Gino DiNicola knocked in a pair of runs.

LEHIGHTON — Nate MacDonald had a pair of hits and drove in two runs as the Blue Raiders blanked the Indians in a Division I game.

Matt Minchhoff, Russell Blaker and Bo Rottet combined on a one-hitter for Tamaqua, with Gabe Wagner’s fifth-inning single being Lehighton’s only hit.

Jake Humes also had two hits for Tamaqua, which scored three runs in the top of the first inning and was never threatened.

MAHANOY CITY — Josh Inama was 4-for-4 with a pair of two-run singles and five RBIs to lift the Colts to a Division III win over the Golden Bears.

Daniel Keer added a two-run single in the second before Marian exploded for 12 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the game via the 10-run rule.

K.J. Snerr scored five runs and Mason Evitts went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Marian.

Robbie Hinkle got the pitching victory, yielding just one hit over five innings.

Contest suspended;

2 others postponed

Rain forced one area game to be suspended, while two others were postponed.

Schuylkill Haven led Minersville 3-0 in the second inning when weather forced their Schuylkill League Division II game to be suspended. The game is scheduled to resume at 4 p.m. Friday at Minersville.

Jim Thorpe’s scheduled visit to Pine Grove for a Division I contest was postponed until 6 p.m. today, while a non-league tilt between Tri-Valley and Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg will be played at 4 p.m. Friday.
