Cabela’s will hold
Ladies’ Day Saturday
Just in time for the opening of spring gobbler season the first weekend in May, the Hamburg Cabela’s will conduct it biannual Ladies’ Day Out event Saturday, April 18, with local experts, certified NRA instructors, sales, seminars, workshops and more.
According to the Outdoor Foundation’s 2014 Outdoor Participation Report, of the 142.6 million U.S. participants in outdoors activities, 46 percent — approximately 65.6 million — are female. Cabela’s Ladies’ Day Out event offers educational workshops and insight on outdoors products and activities and encourages women and families to embrace and enhance their passion for the outdoors.
Each of the first 100 women to attend one of the free seminars will receive a free gift, and no registration is required. Here is the schedule:
9 a.m. — “Intro to Hunting,” presented by the NWTF WITO Blue Mountain Chapter, 10 a.m. — “A Women’s Guide to Shooting and Self-Defense,” presented by Lehigh Valley Firearms Training Center; 11 a.m. — “A Woman’s Guide to Choosing A Firearm,” presented by The Well-Armed Woman local chapters of Berks-Lehigh and the Lehigh Valley; Noon — “Intro to the Shooting Sports,” presented by STSK Firearms Training Center.

Columbia County stocks tagged trout
In time for the April 18 statewide opening of trout season, the Columbia County Commissioners, in cooperation with the Columbia-Montour County Visitor’s Bureau and the Fishing Creek Sportsmen’s Association, have funded a supply of tagged trout to be stocked in Columbia County trout waters. This is the third year for the program that stocks 50 tagged trout in public water of the Columbia County Watershed.
According to Mike Zenzel of Fishing Creek Sportsmen’s Association, 10 fish have $100 tags, 10 fish have $50 tags and 30 fish have $30 tags. Information on the tags has the procedure for collecting the prize.
