PINE GROVE — Dilan Smith and Ryan Wolfe had key hits in the opener and Logan Levan and Tanner Levan combined for six RBIs in the nightcap as Pine Grove swept a non-league baseball doubleheader from Greater Nanticoke on Saturday at Stump Stadium.
The Cardinals took the opener 5-3 and won the second game 9-5.
In the opener, Smith broke a 3-3 tie when he doubled in the fifth and scored on a safety squeeze by Dylan Brown. Pine Grove added an insurance run when Wolfe singled in the sixth and eventually scored on a balk.
Austin Fick earned his sixth victory of the season by striking out nine and walking two.
Logan Levan and Tanner Levan each had two hits in Game 2 as Pine Grove used a five-run second inning to take control.
Logan Levan had a two-run double in the frame, while Tanner Levan had a two-run single.
The early cushion was plenty of support for freshman Jacob Leininger, who struck out 12 in a complete-game outing.
