New Ringgold man

hits hole-in-one

CARLISLE — Richard Eckert, of New Ringgold, hit his first career hole-in-one Saturday at Mayapple Golf Links.

Eckert aced the 137-yard ninth hole by hitting a 9-iron.

John Worthy and Luke Morgan witnessed the event.

McGuire seeded 2nd in discus

MILROY — Upper Dauphin’s Victoria McGuire is seeded second in the Class AA girls’ discus for Friday’s and Saturday’s District 3 Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

McGuire has a seeding mark of 107 feet, 10 inches to rank only behind Littlestown’s Bree Smith, whose top-seeded mark is 110-9.

Upper Dauphin’s Anna Osman is seeded fifth in both the 100-meter hurdles (17.01 seconds) and 300 hurdles (48.52).

Another Trojan, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz, is seeded sixth in the 100 meters (13.01).

Bears win Game 3,

take series lead

WORCESTER, Mass. —Cameron Schilling scored a shorthanded goal on the first shot of the third period and Philipp Grubauer made 31 saves, helping the Hershey Bears to a 2-1 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday afternoon at DCU Center.

With the victory in Game 3 of their American Hockey League conference semifinal series, the Bears took a 2-1 series lead.

Nate Schmidt scored Hershey’s other goal.

Game 4 is set for 7 tonight at the DCU Center.
