How did winning your third district title compare to the other two?: “It is the final one and I feel like it was very intense competition, not that it hasn’t been in the past, but this one was definitely the most nerve-racking (runner-up Holly Szita of Salisbury hit 5-3). This was the first time that I wasn’t seeded first and got first. It was nerve-racking but really exciting because it was my senior year. This one was the most satisfying.”
What is it you like most about the high jump?: “I just think it is really fun. I just like how unique it is. It is different from running where you just go out and run, it is kind of like a lot of technique. It is not for everyone.”
How does it feel to be a No. 4 seed at states in the Class AA high jump?: “It’s awesome. It is crazy to think about. It’s a great honor to be seeded that high and I hope I can exceed that seed and get higher than that or I stay where I am. As long as I stay in the top five I will be perfectly happy.”
What have you been working on to get ready for the state meet?: “I’ve been working on my endurance so I will have enough energy in me when I get to that 5-6, so I’ve been running a lot, sadly. I have to make sure I am not jumping sideways and that I am turning my body all the way around.”
Post-graduation plans: Will attend East Stroudsburg University and major in speech pathology. Also plans on competing on the track and field team.
