MIDDLETOWN - Pottsville resident Don Friday has returned to the role of men's basketball head coach.
Friday, who last served as head coach at Saint Francis (Pa.), was hired Monday as the head men's basketball coach at Penn State Harrisburg.
The Saint Clair native brings 25 years of coaching experience to his new post. Friday was the head coach at Lycoming from 2003-08, where his teams compiled a 40-26 record. He was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year in 2006 before he moved to Saint Francis, where his teams went 32-86 over four seasons.
Friday also served more than a decade as an assistant coach at both Bucknell University and at his alma mater, Lebanon Valley College. Last season, he was an assistant coach at Susquehanna University.
Friday succeeds Mike Gaffey at Penn State Harrisburg after Gaffey directed the team to a 12-15 record last season. A Division III school, Penn State Harrisburg moves to the Capital Athletic Conference for the upcoming season.
