Athletic Honors: Van Horn was a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Golden Bears, helping Mahanoy Area capture the 2010 and 2011 Eastern Conference Class A championships. An offensive and defensive lineman, Van Horn earned a bevy of postseason accolades throughout his football career: 2010 Republican-Herald All-Area honorable mention offensive line, 2011 Anthracite Football League second-team center, 2011 Republican-Herald All-Area second-team offensive line, 2011 Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association second-team center, 2011 Hazleton Standard-Speaker second-team defensive end, 2012 SCFCA second-team center, 2012 Republican-Herald All-Area honorable mention offensive line and 2012 Hazleton Standard-Speaker honorable mention offensive line. Van Horn received the Anthracite Football League Sportsmanship Award, was the Mahanoy Area recipient of the James Rhoades MVP Award for the annual Mahanoy Area-Shenandoah Valley game, and played for the North in the annual SCFCA Senior Game. Van Horn was also a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and baseball at Mahanoy Area, helping the Golden Bears capture the 2013 District 11 Class A basketball championship. Van Horn was also a member of the 2011 Schuylkill East Teener all-star team that won the VFW State Teener 15-16-year-old championship.
Academic Honors: Van Horn was a class president, vice president of student council, a member of Meals on Wheels and served as a church acolyte.

Athletic Honors: Smith was a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Crimson Tide girls' soccer team, serving as the starting goalkeeper all four years. Smith was The Republican-Herald All-Area 2009 and 2012 first-team goalie and 2010 second-team goalie. Smith won a pair of Pottsville coaches' awards, was twice named the team MVP and was the Tide's varsity captain. As a senior, she was Pottsville's recipient of the Schuylkill County Soccer Scholar-Athlete. She also plays for the FC Revolution Galaxy travel soccer team.
Academic Honors: Smith was a member of the National Honor Society, National Society for High School Scholars, French National Honor Society and the school's top French student from 2011-13. She was a member of student council, the AID, Leo Club and French Club.
