Carpenter Cup
PHILADELPHIA — Tri-Cape collected 14 hits and capitalized on 12 walks and seven errors to rout Lehigh Valley 19-0 in the opening round of the Carpenter Cup on Wednesday at the Philadelphia Phillies’ new Urban Baseball Academy Showcase Field at FDR Park.
Tri-Cape, composed of players from the Tri-County League and the Cape-Atlantic League in South Jersey, scored three runs in the first, six in the second and six more in the third to build a quick 15-0 lead.
North Schuylkill’s Chris Burke started at catcher for Lehigh Valley and went 0-for-2. Lehigh Valley finished with just three hits — all singles — and struck out 13 times.
