Tri-Valley girls' basketball and softball standout Juli Weber appeared in the "Faces in the Crowd" segment of the Aug. 5 edition of Sports Illustrated.

This past spring, Weber guided Tri-Valley to the PIAA Class A state championship in girls' basketball, then had one of the best softball seasons in Schuylkill League history.

The Republican-Herald All-Area Girls' Softball Player of the Year and the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association Class A Player of the Year, Weber hit .671 (55-for-82) with 37 runs scored, 30 stolen bases, seven doubles, eight triples, four homers and 27 RBIs as a senior.

Already enrolled at the University of South Florida on a Division I softball scholarship, Weber compiled a .700 on-base percentage and a 1.098 slugging percentage in helping Tri-Valley win the Schuylkill League championship and reach the District 11 Class A title game before losing to eventual state champion Williams Valley.

The "Faces in the Crowd" segment appears on Page 21 of the edition, which has Alex Rodriguez on the cover.

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced the Wildlife Management Unit which contains most of Schuylkill County has sold its entire allotment of antlerless deer licenses.

The commission said all of the allocated 27,000 licenses in WMU 4C have been sold, making the unit one of nine throughout Pennsylvania which no longer has licenses available.

Fourteen other units have licenses for sale. Those units include 4E, whose area includes northwestern Schuylkill County. There are 3,160 of the allocated 26,000 licenses still available.

To find out the numbers remaining in other WMUs are available at www.pgc.state.pa.us.
