TOWER CITY — Jacob Herman and Mason Evans hit home runs in the fourth inning, enabling Upper Dauphin County to pull away to a 14-3, five-inning win over Minersville in a District 24 Little League 11-12 -year-old Pool 4 game Sunday.
The victory gives Upper Dauphin County (3-0) the pool championship.
Upper Dauphin County held a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning when the home team exploded for five runs — three on Herman’s home run and the other two on Evans’ homer.
UDC then forced an early end to the game with another five-run burst in the fifth.
Herman added a two-run home run and a double to finish with five RBIs. Winning pitcher Nathan Wise helped his cause with three hits and two RBIs. Evans, who had three RBIs, added a single. Tyler Cleveland and Bryce Herb each had two hits.
Minersville (1-2) was led by Jake Hoffman’s two-run home run and a single. Ayden Paukstis added a home run and a single.

ASHLAND — Mason Ulsh and Owen Umbenhaur each had three hits as Schuylkill Haven clinched the Pool 2 title with a wild win over Ashland.
Jack Flynn had three hits and Averi Baney and Mike Reilley each collected two for Ashland, which used a seven-run second inning to build a 10-2 lead.
Jack Higgins started Haven’s comeback with a two-run homer in the second. After scoring two more runs in the third, Haven took control with an eight-run fourth.
Ulsh tied the game at 10-10 with a grand slam, his third homer of the tournament. Two runs scored on an error before Umbenhaur delivered an RBI single and scored on another error.
Jeremy Hughes added two hits and got the pitching victory with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.

RINGTOWN — Preston Sincavage and Billy Gerlott each hit home runs as Orwigsburg posted a four-inning shutout of Upper Schuylkill to clinch a quarterfinal berth and remain unbeaten in Pool 1.
Sinvcavage hit a two-run homer in the first inning, while Gerlott, who also doubled in the game, hit a solo home run in the second inning as Orwigsburg built a quick 8-0 lead.
Lorenzo Valenti added two singles for Orwigsburg, which scored twice in the fourth to clinch the victory.
Pitchers Zach Schwalm and John Kehler combined for the shutout.
Bill Joyce and Shawn Lex had hits for Upper Schuylkill.
