LITTLE LEAGUE: UDC wraps up 10-11 pool title

ORWIGSBURG — Nick Joseph collected three hits as Upper Dauphin County clinched the Pool 1 title of the District 24 Little League 10-11-year-old Tournament with a 17-3, four-inning win over Orwigsburg on Saturday.

Joseph had a double and two-run homer among his three hits, scoring two runs and compiling four RBIs.

Hunter Zerby added three hits and four RBIs as UDC scored nine runs in the first inning and added seven more in the fourth.

Bryant Hoover and Dawson Klinger combined on a two-hitter for UDC, with Walborn getting both hits for Orwigsburg.

Issac Hepler doubled, singled and scored two runs for Upper Dauphin County.

Minersville 2

TURBOTVILLE — Kali Woodford had a pair of RBIs, but a five-run fourth inning was too much to overcome as the Miners lost to South Williamsport in the championship round.

Haley Sekellick scored both of Minersville’s runs and stole four bases. In the first inning she scored on Woodford’s fielder’s choice. In the third inning, Sekellick scored on a Woodford single.

Woodford struck out six and walked none in the circle for Minersville, which took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth.

South Williamsport answered with three singles and took advantage of three Minersville errors to score five runs and take control.
