CRESSONA — Christopher Moyer and Adam Carroll combined on a three-hitter and Austin Heydt drove in three runs as Cressona defeated Ashland 7-3 in a District 24 Little League 10-11-year-old game Monday.

Carroll had a two-run single and Heydt contributed a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning to stake Cressona to an early 3-1 lead.

Cressona then broke it open with three more runs in the fourth inning, as Heydt had a two-run single and Branson Devitt ripped an RBI single.

Carroll allowed just one run over the final four innings, striking out five.

The victory clinches the Pool 2 title for Cressona (4-0), which will host Railway Park in a semifinal contest Wednesday. Railway Park earned the No. 2 spot in Pool 1 with a 4-3 victory over Pine Grove on Monday.

Despite the loss, Ashland (3-1) is the Pool 2 runner-up and will travel to Pool 1 winner Upper Dauphin in Wednesday’s semifinals. That game will be at 5:30 p.m. in Tower City.

The District 24 10-11 championship game is set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the remaining team with the highest number.
