Blankenhorn off to slow start
for Elizabethton
DANVILLE, Va. — Pottsville graduate Travis Blankenhorn was 0-for-4 as the Elizabethton Twins lost 3-1 on Thursday to the Danville Braves.
Blankenhorn, who hit seventh and started at third base, grounded out in the second inning, lined out in the fourth, popped out to short in the sixth and grounded out again in the eighth.
Blankenhorn committed an error, but also started two 5-4-3 double plays in the second and sixth innings.
In three games for Elizabethton (10-11), a Rookie affiliate of the Minnesota Twins in the Appalachian League, Blankenhorn is hitting .167, with two hits in 12 at bats. Blankenhorn hit .245 in 14 games for the Gulf Coast Twins before he was promoted to Elizabethton on July 10.
