LLEWELLYN — The Schuylkill South Junior Teener All-Stars greatly improved their chances of qualifying for the VFW State Tournament with two wins Saturday.
The South rallied past the West 10-5 in its first game before beating the North 13-5 in the second.
In the first victory, Kobe Brish hit a two-run home run in the sixth and Ben Kramer went 3-for-4 with a double for the South.
Parker Zimerofsky tripled to drive in a run in the first inning and J.R. Hahner earned the win in relief, coming on in the third inning.
In the second game, Kramer went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs.
Nate Nabholz delivered a three-run homer for the South in the first inning. Nabholz finished with three hits and pitched a complete game, striking out four.
Zimerofsky added three hits, one a double, and Brish clubbed two more hits.
The South turned double plays in the first, second and sixth innings.

LLEWELLYN — Max Schally hit a three-run triple in the first inning to spark Schuylkill North’s victory in its first game of the day.
Will Conroy pitched the first three innings to get the win. He struck out three. Josh Hayle finished with two innings of relief.
Reggie Crawford smacked a pair of doubles for the North.

Maryland rolls past
Pennsylvania in Big 26
HARRISBURG — Maryland scored nine runs in a three-inning span to blow past Pennsylvania 9-1 in Game 2 of the Big 26 Baseball Classic at Metro Bank Park.
David Harding and Billy Godrick got Maryland on the board with RBI singles in the third inning, and Maryland capitalized on three Pennsylvania errors to add three runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
North Schuylkill’s Tevin Murray pitched the fifth inning for Pennsylvania, giving up four runs. Brady O’Neil had an RBI single before Maryland Player of the Game Spencer Horwitz slugged a three-run double that one-hopped the wall in left field to make it 9-0.
Pennsylvania’s only run came on Daulton Martin’s RBI single in the top of the eighth. The Keystone State stars stranded 13 on base and committed five errors.
The final game of the three-game series is at 1:05 p.m. today. Marian right-hander Joe Nahas is scheduled to start on the mound for Pennsylvania.
