Addvensky’s illness clarified
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Schuylkill Haven head girls’ volleyball coach Nan Addvensky clarified her illness Wednesday in response to a story in Wednesday’s edition of The Republican Herald.
She said she is dealing wtih a tumor as one of her medical conditions, but that contrary to Wednesday’s story, that tumor has not been defined as cancer.
She said she is also dealing with a neurological condition.
“I don’t want people thinking I have cancer and I really do not even know what is going on yet,” she said by email.
Hershey golfer hits hole-in-one
PINE GROVE — Jan B. Yupcavage, of Hershey, recorded a hole-in-one Wednesday at Hidden Valley Golf Course.
Yupcavage used a Callaway 5-wood to ace the 11th hole.
Dickie Raczka, Charlie Guensch and John Ellis were Yupcavage’s playing partners.
PSU-Schuylkill soccer team falls to Lehigh-Carbon
SCHNECKSVILLE — Despite a hat trick by Blue Mountain graduate Kasey Krammes, Penn State Schuylkill’s men’s soccer team slipped to 1-1 with a 4-3 loss to Lehigh-Carbon Community College on Thursday.
After Lehigh-Carbon held a 1-0 halftime lead, Krammes scored all three PSU-Schuylkill goals in the second half, including one off an assist from John Toe.
But Lehigh-Carbon matched Krammes’ total to take the victory.
