High School girls' soccer roundup for Sept. 5, 2015

HALIFAX — Rachel Edge had five goals in two games as Pine Grove outscored its two opponents 12-1 and powered its way to the Halifax Tournament championship Saturday.

In their opener, the Cardinals downed Williams Valley 7-1 as Mackenzie Lesh and Adrianna Tennis each scored twice and Edge had three assists.

Steph Aungst, Caitlin Seiverling and Edge added goals for the Cardinals, who raced out to a 7-0 advantage. Rayanne Hawk scored on a penalty kick for the Vikings to avoid the shutout.

In the second game, Edge scored four times, with Mariah Lesh assisting on her first three goals, as Pine Grove shut out Halifax 5-0 to win the title.

Pine Grove led 1-0 at the half during the tournament’s finale against the Wildcats, but then exploded for four second-half goals.

In the tournament opener, Halifax and Williams Valley played to a 0-0 draw, but the Wildcats won the game 3-1 on penalty kicks.

Alyssa Schadle had 13 saves for Williams Valley in its game with Halifax. Hawk scored during the shootout.

MILTON — Nadine Sharr had a goal and two assists as Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech shut out Weatherly 5-0 in the consolation game of the Meadowbrook Christian Lady Lions’ Kick-Off Tournament.

Bree Burgess had four saves in goal for the Rams to record the shutout.

CMVT was blanked by Meadowbrook Christian 2-0 in an opening-round game of the tournament Friday.
