FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — North Schuylkill’s girls’ volleyball team ended the 2014 season with a four-match winning streak.
It’s a new season, but the Spartans still have momentum.
Leanna Gregas had six aces and seven kills to lead North Schuylkill to a 25-20, 25-27, 24-26, 25-18, 15-10 victory over Pine Grove on Tuesday in a Schuylkill League Division II match.
Alanah Guerrero added nine aces and 15 digs for the Spartans (1-0, 1-0 D-II) as they rallied from two extra-point losses and a 2-1 deficit to beat the Cardinals. Vanessa Ferraiolo had 65 assists.
For Pine Grove (0-1, 0-1), Alexa Kolb had 16 digs and 12 kills. Jessie Todero added seven kills and four aces.
Pine Grove won the JV match 2-0.

COAL TOWNSHIP — Jamey Mikovich compiled 10 kills, nine service points, four aces and seven digs as the Panthers (2-0, 1-0) swept the Red Raiders 25-6, 25-8, 25-5 in a Division II contest.
Christina Dacey added five kills, four service points two aces and seven digs for the winners. Kelsey Van Horn contributed three kills, 12 assists, nine service points four aces and four digs. Danielle Hudicka totaled three kills, three assists, nine service points, five aces and three digs for Panther Valley against Lourdes (0-2, 0-1).
Panther Valley won the JV match 2-0.

TAMAQUA — Katie Higgins registered six aces, seven kills and 12 digs as the Indians (1-0, 1-0 D-I) beat the Blue Raiders 25-21, 25-16, 25-12 in a Division I match.
Andrea Shafer added nine aces, one kill and three digs, and Alyssa Jordan collected 10 kills and nine digs for Lehighton.
For Tamaqua (0-1, 0-1), Carly Kosciolek had three kills, two digs and three blocks. Kaelyn Boran-Smith had seven digs and Emily Amershek had two aces.
Lehighton won the JV match 2-0.

TOWER CITY — Reagan Newswanger compiled 18 assists and Kat Sherry tallied five aces as the Dawgs (1-0, 1-0 D-III) swept the Vikings 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 in a Division III match.
Morgan Matter led Williams Valley (0-1, 0-1) with five service points and three aces. Jenna Daniel contributed five service points and four aces.
Tri-Valley won the JV match 2-0.

HALIFAX — Jordyn Ashberry dished out 21 assists to complement six aces, one kill and four digs as the Wildcats (1-0, 1-0 D-III) outlasted the Trojans 24-26, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9 in a Division III match.
Molly Smith compiled 27 digs and Kendall Lehman added 12 kills, two aces, 19 digs and three assists for the Wildcats. Brianna Turner put down nine kills.
For Upper Dauphin (0-1, 0-1), Laura Sweger had 12 kills and eight blocks. Alexis Bowser had nine kills and Maddie Miller had eight. Mickayla Grow posted 36 assists.

MAHANOY CITY — Cecelia DiNicola recorded one assist, six kills and three blocks as the Green Wave (1-0, 1-0 D-IV) swept past the Golden Bears 25-17, 25-9, 25-16 in a Division IV match.
Carley Lionetto added nine digs, while Noelle Steele compiled 11 assists and seven digs for Nativity.
Mychaellah Lucas collected three kills, five digs and three blocks and Desiree Malacusky had two kills, an ace and two blocks for Mahanoy Area (0-1, 0-1). Sydney Gnall contributed 10 digs.
Nativity won the JV match 2-0.

SHENANDOAH — Meg Schwalm collected 15 digs and nine aces as the Battlin’ Miners swept the Blue Devils 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 in a Division IV match.
Emily Bartashus added seven kills and five digs and Reilly Lonergan tallied four kills for Minersville (1-0, 1-0).
For Shenandoah Valley (0-1, 0-1), Emily Demalis contributed six service points, Molly Michalik had two aces and Alaina Demalis picked up three digs.
Minersville won the JV match 2-0.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN —Maddy Felty collected 19 kills, 24 service points, four aces and three blocks as the Hurricanes (1-0, 1-0) defeated the Wreckers 27-25, 18-25, 25-12, 25-17 in a Division IV match.
Ashley Ferrando added 17 assists, nine service points and four aces, while Tori Pascucci contributed 10 service points and 15 digs.
Alexis Hartz collared 10 service points, seven kills, four aces and five digs for Weatherly (1-2, 0-1). Emily Zoscin added six kills. Megan McClintock finished with eight service points, two kills, two aces and three digs.
Weatherly won the JV match 2-1.
