WEATHERLY — It has been a long time since Weatherly last won a Schuylkill League girls’ volleyball match, but the streak is over.
Alexis Hartz posted three digs, four blocks and 15 service points as the Wreckers downed Shenandoah Valley 25-22, 25-17, 14-25, 25-15 on Thursday in a Division IV match.
The win was Weatherly’s first in a Schuylkill League match since Sept. 17, 2013, when the Wreckers defeated Williams Valley.
Since then, Weatherly (2-2, 1-1 D-IV) had lost 24 in a row, including its league opener this season.
Jackie Gillot recorded four aces and six assists, Megan McClintock had three digs and 14 service points, and Samantha Andreuzzi added three kills, two aces and two blocks for the Wreckers.
Alaina Demalis tallied 11 aces and 14 digs for the Blue Devils (0-2, 0-2), while Marcella Creasy had nine kills, three aces and two blocks, and Emily Demalis finished with 18 assists and six aces.
Shenandoah Valley won the JV match, 2-0.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Mickayla Backo posted nine kills, five digs and seven aces, and Desiree Malacusky added eight kills, three aces and two blocks as Mahanoy Area edged Schuylkill Haven 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 9-25, 15-9 to earn a Division IV victory.
Jennie Neifert recorded three kills, eight aces and eight digs, Sydney Gnall had nine digs and nine service points, and Samantha Gnall tallied 25 assists for the Golden Bears (2-1, 1-1 D-IV).
Madison Felty led the Hurricanes (1-2, 1-1) with nine kills, five blocks and 18 service points. Tori Pascucci had eight digs and 20 service points, and Ashley Ferrando finished with 10 assists and nine service points.
Mahanoy Area won the JV match 2-0.
Marian 3, Lourdes 0
HOMETOWN — Abigail Stankiewitch recorded 11 kills and three aces to lead Marian over Lourdes 25-8, 25-4, 25-6 for a Division II victory.
Courtney McCall added 15 assists, four kills and five digs, and Jasmine Mooney had two kills, seven aces and six digs for the Fillies (1-1, 1-0), who rebounded from a season-opening loss to Bethlehem Catholic on Wednesday.
Francis Czeponis tallied three blocks for the Red Raiders (0-3, 0-2).

LANSFORD — Jamie Mikovich led Panther Valley with 10 kills and five blocks en route to a 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 Division II sweep of Pine Grove to secure the division lead.
Kelsey Van Horn posted five kills, 12 assists and four aces, and Hannah Hill had six aces and eight service points for the Panthers (2-0, 2-0 D-II).
Brandi Wetzel recorded 21 digs for the Cardinals (0-2, 0-2), while Alexa Kolb had four digs and four blocks. Callie Edwards added 21 assists, and Jessie Todero tallied five kills and six digs.
Panther Valley won the JV match 2-0.
Pottsville 3, Tamaqua 0
Leah Guzick posted 27 assists as Pottsville (1-1, 1-1) picked up its first win of the season with a 26-24, 25-16, 25-20 Division I sweep of Tamaqua.
Kasie Shaw added seven kills, and Kyra Schenk had four kills for the Crimson Tide, who bounced back from a season-opening setback at Blue Mountain.
Mackenzie McVicker added three kills and nine blocks for Tamaqua (1-2, 0-2). Alexis Baddick had five kills and three aces, Carly Kosciolek added four kills and two digs and Deidra Ressler had two kills and three blocks.
Pottsville’s JV team won its match, 2-0.
Pottsville will host the five-team Gatorade Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Martz Hall. The teams include Tamaqua, Nativity, Tri-Valley and Blue Mountain.

JIM THORPE — Nicole McQuillan posted seven kills, seven digs and two blocks as Blue Mountain topped Jim Thorpe 25-10, 25-12, 25-15 in Division I action.
Lexi Juritsch had four kills and nine digs, and Erika Gerace added nine digs for the Eagles (2-0, 2-0 D-I).
Jillian Peterson led the Olympians (1-1, 0-1) with five kills and four blocks, while Alexandra McGinley had 20 digs, and Erin Shigo tallied 14 digs and four kills.
Blue Mountain won the JV match 2-0.

HEGINS — Kat Sherry posted four aces, four kills and 12 service points to lead Tri-Valley past Covenant Christian in a non-league match.
Reagan Newswanger had 10 assists, while Cat Troutman posted two aces and four kills for the Dawgs (2-0). Tara Bernes added four aces among her eight service points.
Halifax 3, Millersburg 1
MILLERSBURG — Jordyn Ashberry posted seven aces and 20 assists to lead Halifax past Millersburg 26-24, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21 in Division III.
Kendall Lehman added 12 kills and two blocks, Brianna Turner had nine kills and Ella Starr finished with 11 digs for the Wildcats (2-0, 2-0 D-III).
Taryn Herb led the Indians (1-1, 0-1) with five kills and six blocks, while Emily Schade had eight assists. Cheyanne Phillips also tallied three kills, and Cassidy Prince recorded two kills.
The loss is the first in the division for Millersburg, which won the division title last season.

NEW TRIPOLI — Sammy Shinkus had 12 kills and nine digs for North Schuylkill in its 25-11, 25-17, 25-14 non-league loss to Northwestern Lehigh.
Alanah Guerrero added nine kills for the Spartans (1-1), who host an eight-team tournament Saturday. Leanna Gregas had eight kills and three aces while Vanessa Ferraiolo had 34 assists.
Northwestern Lehigh won the JV match, 2-0.
Saucon Valley 3
Lehighton 1
LEHIGHTON — Katie Higgins recorded 13 kills, 19 digs and five aces, but Lehighton fell to Saucon Valley 26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24 in a non-league contest.
Alyssa Jordan added 10 kills, 10 digs and two aces, while Andrea Schafer tallied six kills, seven digs and one ace for the Indians (2-1).
Lehighton won the JV match 2-0.
Millersburg 3

LEWISTOWN — Millersburg opened its season Wednesday with a 13-25, 25-22, 28-26, 25-21 victory over Mifflin County in a non-league match.
Taryn Herb led the Indians with 14 kills, four aces, two blocks and three digs. Emily Schade added five aces and 19 assists. Cheyanne Phillips had four aces, seven kills and six digs. Cassidy Prince added two kills and four digs.
Mifflin County won the JV match, 2-0.
