The North Schuylkill High School Football Hall of Fame will induct its 39th class prior to Friday’s Anthracite Football League game against Lehighton at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.

This year’s class consists of four players from the 2009 season who helped the Spartans to the first-ever undefeated regular season in school history. In addition, the 2009 team also won the Anthracite Football League and District 11 Class AA titles.

This year’s inductees are:

Steve Ennis

Ennis graduated in 2010, starting three years as a wide receiver and free safety. On offense, Ennis was a clutch wideout. Defensively, as a sophomore and junior, Ennis finished as one of the top three defenders in tackles.

He was selected to the Republican-Herald All-Area first team on defense and to the second team as a sophomore.

Ennis was a member of North Schuylkill’s boys’ basketball team that won the Schuylkill League championship in 2009, and earned varsity letters in baseball. Ennis went on to play basketball at Elizabethtown College and is a current student at Penn State University, majoring in mathematical business.

Tom Ferrari

A 2010 graduate, Ferrari played four years for the Spartans. As a senior quarterback, Ferrari threw for 1,000 yards and 12 TDs.

Ferrari was selected to the Republican-Herald All-Area second team, Anthracite Football League second team and Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association North Team, and was named Schuylkill County Army Strong Player of the Month during his senior campaign.

In addition to football, Ferrari was a three-year letterwinner in baseball. Upon graduating high school, he was a preferred walk-on quarterback at West Virginia University, where in 2010 he received West Virginia’s football academic award.

Ferrari was recently promoted to business development manager at Cient in Greenville, S.C.

Zach Hogan

Hogan graduated in 2010, starting at cornerback and wingback his junior and senior seasons. During his senior year, Hogan recorded seven interceptions.

Hogan was named to the WNEP-16 Dream Team, Reading Eagle All-Anthracite Football Team (DB), second-team All State (DB), Anthracite Football League first team, News-Item All-Area first team, Pennsylvania Football News first team (Defensive Specialist), Republican-Herald All-Area first team, Standard-Speaker All-Area first team, PFN All-State Team in AA and Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association North first team. He also was North Schuylkill’s football scholar-athlete.

Hogan also earned varsity letters in baseball and basketball while at North Schuylkill. Hogan earned a bachelor’s degree in health science from Lebanon Valley College and is currently continuing his education at Penn State University.

Chase Skinner

Skinner is a 2010 graduate who started three years on the offensive line. As a senior defensive lineman, Skinner recorded 64 tackles, including three sacks.

Skinner was selected to the Pennsylvania Football News third-team Class AA All-State team, Republican-Herald first-team offensive line, Standard Speaker All-Area first-team offensive line, News-Item All-Area first team, Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association first-team defensive line and to the Anthracite Football League first-team offensive line and second-team defensive line.

He also participated in track and field while at North Schuylkill. Skinner graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 2014, where he was a first-team tight end and a member of its Seaboard Conference championship team.

The Hall of Fame was formed through the efforts of the late Bob Oravitz, who once coached the Spartans football team. In memoriam, the Hall of Fame recognizes Norbert W. Turnbach, who was secretary since the club’s inception in 1976. Turnbach passed away June 3, 2015.
