MILLERSBURG — Upper Dauphin’s girls’ volleyball team played its third five-set match of the season, but neither of the first two were like Thursday’s Schuylkill League Division III match against Millersburg.
Unlike the others, Thursday’s opponent, Millersburg, won the first two sets, but Upper Dauphin roared back to edge the Indians 19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-12.
Laura Sweger posted 16 kills, 12 aces and five blocks for Upper Dauphin (4-2, 1-2 D-III). Kelsey Hoffman added eight kills, three aces and six digs. Mickayla Grow had eight aces, 21 assists and eight digs. Alexis Weaver added six kills, three assists and 12 digs and Alexis Bowser had seven kills and six digs. Madissen Miller posted five kills, two aces, five assists and six digs. Gracie Miller had eight digs.
For Millersburg (2-3, 1-3), Taryn Herb produced 21 kills, six aces and five blocks. Cheyanne Phillips added two aces, five kills and 15 digs. Emily Schade had four aces and 29 assists. Lexy Fisher posted two aces and nine digs. Alexis Breslin had two aces and four digs.
Upper Dauphin won the junior varsity match, 2-0.
Pottsville 3
Lehighton 1
Kyra Schenk had 10 kills and six blocks to lead Pottsville to a 25-27, 25-19, 25-16, 31-29 victory over Lehighton in a Division I match.
Kasie Shaw, who had 11 digs, and Becca Sites each recorded nine kills for the Crimson Tide (3-1, 2-1 D-I). Kassi Kuperavage added 14 digs.
Lehighton (3-2, 2-1 D-I) was paced by 12 kills, two aces and 25 digs by Katie Higgins. Alyssa Jordan added eight kills and eight digs. Tori Eads-Rodriguez posted 21 assists, 10 digs and five kills.
Pottsville won the JV match, 2-0.

TAMAQUA — Jillian Peterson collected four kills and three blocks as the Olympians swept the Blue Raiders 25-14, 25-13, 25-8 in a Division I match.
Erin Shigo notched nine kills and Kelsey Carroll contributed 19 assists for Jim Thorpe (3-3, 1-2), which earned its first division win for new head coach Victoria Nichols.
Deidra Ressler registered three kills and three blocks, while Andrea Iacoviello added three digs for Tamaqua (2-4, 0-4).
Jim Thorpe won the JV match, 2-0.
Marian 3, Pine Grove 0
PINE GROVE — Abby Stankiewitch registered 11 kills and three blocks as the Fillies beat the Cardinals 25-16, 25-14, 25-9 in a Division II match.
Jasmine Mooney added eight kills and three service aces, while Maureen Kloap finished with six kills, five aces and seven digs for Marian (3-2, 3-0 D-III).
For Pine Grove (1-4, 1-3), Maria Kaufman had three blocks and Brandi Wetzel compiled eight digs.
Marian won the JV match, 2-0.
Panther Valley 3

LANSFORD — Jamey Mikovich had 18 kills to lead Division II co-leader Panther Valley to a 25-10, 25-10, 25-17 victory over North Schuylkill.
Mikovich added two blocks and three aces for the Panthers (5-0, 3-0 D-II). Kelsey Van Horn added five kills, 15 assists and six aces. Danielle Hudicka served three aces and Alex Kennedy had nine digs.
North Schuylkill (1-3, 1-2) gained seven kills from Grace Major and six kills each by Leanna Gregas and Sammy Shinkus. Vanessa Ferrando had 23 assists.
Panther Valley won the JV match, 2-0.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Jocelyn Holobetz compiled 13 kills, five digs and an assist as the Green Wave swept the Hurricanes 25-23, 25-16, 25-11 in a Division IV match.
Ashley Strausser added nine kills and five digs for Nativity (5-0, 5-0 D-IV). Carley Lionetto contributed three aces and nine digs while Noelle Steele finished with 26 assists, three aces, four kills and six digs for Nativity.
Tori Pascucci led Schuylkill Haven (1-6, 1-4)with 10 digs, three aces and eight service points. Maddy Felty totaled nine kills, five blocks and three digs, and Macy Dayson tallied six digs and three kills.

WEATHERLY — Maura Bentz recorded 16 assists and six aces as the Battlin’ Miners swept the Wreckers 25-8, 25-23, 25-13 in a Division IV match.
Reiley Lonergan contributed eight kills, Meg Schwalm added 32 digs and two aces, and Alexis Huntzinger had six kills for Minersville (4-1, 4-1 D-IV).
Samantha Andreuzzi had three kills, four digs and two blocks and Lexi Hartz added five kills and eight digs for Weatherly (2-5, 1-4). Megan McClintock totaled nine points, two kills and three digs.
Minersville won the JV match, 2-0.

SHENANDOAH — Mychaellah Lucas collected 18 assists, seven aces, 11 service points and three kills as the Golden Bears defeated the Blue Devils 25-23, 25-12, 25-13 in a Division IV match.
Mickayla Backo totaled nine kills, three digs, three aces and 14 service points for Mahanoy Area (4-2, 3-2 D-IV).Desiree Malacusky had five kills and four blocks and Samantha Gnall notched 12 service points, five aces, nine digs and three kills.
For Shenandoah Valley (1-4, 1-4), Marcella Creasy contributed 10 service points, three aces and four kills. Allie Wargo added five points, two aces and four digs, and Alaina Demalis totaled five digs.
Mahanoy Area won the JV match, 2-1.

TOWER CITY — Shamokin defeated Williams Valley 25-6, 25-8, 25-14 in a Twin Valley Conference match.
For Williams Valley (0-5), Jenna Daniels had five kills. Morgan Matter had five service points and Rylie Thomas posted nine assists.
