Seeking to build on its trip to the Schuylkill League and District 11 Class A semifinals in 2014, the Nativity boys’ soccer team took an early step to returning to the league playoffs Thursday afternoon.

Rodrigo Sanchez scored the match’s first two goals as the Hilltoppers upended perennial league playoff contender Schuylkill Haven 4-1 in a Schuylkill League Division II clash atop Lawton’s Hill.

Jorge Nechar and Alfredo Diaz added second-half goals as Nativity took a 4-0 lead. Keeper Eric Nelson stopped 15 of 16 shots.

Bryce Moyer helped the Hurricanes avoid the shutout with a goal in the 50th minute.
