JIM THORPE — Balance was the key Wednesday for the North Schuylkill boys’ cross country team.

The Spartans placed six runners in the top eight to sweep a Schuylkill League Division I tri-meet with Jim Thorpe and Col-Mon Vo-Tech.

Austin Roseberry was second, Chris McCormick third, Matt McCormick fifth, Lenny Bolinsky sixth, George Anthony seventh and Colin Ahrensfield eighth for North Schuylkill, which downed Jim Thorpe 23-36 and Col-Mon Vo-Tech 15-50.

Dylan Bucior was first in 17:28 and Ben Saxon took fourth in 18:30 for Jim Thorpe (6-2, 2-2 D-I), but North Schuylkill (7-0, 4-0) had five runners cross the tape within a minute after Roseberry was second in 18:16.

Jim Thorpe defeated Col-Mon Vo-Tech 15-48 in the other part of the tri-meet. Kameron Unger was CMVT’s top finisher, placing 14th overall.

Miners cruise past Wreckers, Wave

MINERSVILLE — Weatherly’s Jared Hinkle set a course record, finishing first in 18:18, as the Wreckers topped Nativity 15-50 but fell 23-32 to Minersville in a Division II tri-meet.

Minersville’s Sam DiBiase set a school record at 18:20, finishing second overall as the Miners also beat the Green Wave 15-50.

Simon Wagner and Joseph Purcell came in third and fifth, respectively, for Minersville.

Brett Rushannon led Nativity with a fourth-place finish in 19:29.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Owen Pothering finished first in 19:26 to lead Schuylkill Haven past Shenandoah Valley in a Division II dual meet.

Ian McGowan and Cole Jewett placed third and fifth, respectively, for the Hurricanes.

Josh White led the Blue Devils with a second-place finish in 19:36, while teammate Brandon Stasulli came in fourth.

Eddie Pulaski led the Colts with a third-place finish in 18:46, while teammate Aaron Srinivasan followed in fourth place.

Miners race past Wreckers, Wave

MINERSVILLE — Kaylene Raczka set a course and school record, finishing first in 21:16 to lead Minersville over Weatherly 16-43 and Nativity 19-44 in a Division II tri-meet.

Olivia Cory, Autumn Pedron and Kristen Lowe placed 3-4-5 for the Miners.

Emily Zoscin placed sixth in 25:03 to lead the Wreckers over the Green Wave 20-37.

Joahlana Najunas led Nativity with a second-place finish in 22:28.

HOMETOWN — Tina Capparell finished first in 20:21 to lead Marian to a Division II win over Mahanoy Area.

Nicole Capparell placed second, and Natalia Konitzer came in fifth for the Fillies.

Megan Babinsky led the Golden Bears with a third-place finish in 22:44, while teammate Megan Bisco came in fourth.

JIM THORPE — Delana Nalesnik and Kayley Kovac finished 1-2 as Jim Thorpe defeated Col-Mon Vo-Tech 15-50 and North Schuylkill 22-35 in a Division I tri-meet.

Nalesnik finished in 20:47, with Kovac second in 22:44. Brinn DeAngelo was third for North Schuylkill, which beat CMVT 15-50 in the other part of the tri-meet.

Running independently, Panther Valley’s MacKenzie Lazar was 12th in 27:42.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Shenandoah Valley’s runners came in 1-2-3, with Carly Teaschenko leading the way in 22:44, as the Blue Devils outpaced Schuylkill Haven in a Division II dual meet.

Alexis Luna and Emily Demalis rounded out the top three for Shenandoah Valley.

Lexi Pascucci led the Hurricanes with a fourth-place finish in 24:29, while teammate Shannon Domermuth took the fifth spot.
