Stankiewitch survives Patriots' round of cuts
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - So far, so good for Blue Mountain grad Matt Stankiewitch.
The undrafted rookie center from Penn State was not among the roster moves the New England Patriots made Monday, when they sliced their roster to 77 players. The Patriots must make two more moves before today's league deadline to get to 75 players.
Among the cuts was nine-year NFL linebacker Niko Koutovides. The team released five players, placed two on IR and two on the non-football injury list.
The final 53-man roster will be announced Saturday. New England hosts the New York Giants in its final preseason game Thursday night at Gillette Stadium.
