Jim Thorpe’s girls’ volleyball team could have qualified for the District 11 Class AA Tournament on Thursday night, but Pottsville had other ideas.
Rallying from a 3-2 loss to Lehighton in which Pottsville held a 2-0 lead, the Crimson Tide defeated the Olympians 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 in the Boys’ Gym.
Kyra Schenk deposited 11 kills and seven blocks as the Crimson Tide won the Schuylkill League Division I match.
Madison Sherakas contributed seven kills, three digs and two aces, Kasie Shaw collected six kills, four digs and two aces and Leah Guzick dished out 27 assists for Pottsville (9-7, 7-6 D-I).
Jim Thorpe (9-10, 5-8) will have one last chance to qualify for the district tournament with a match Tuesday at Weatherly.
Pottsville won JV 2-0.

ORWIGSBURG — Ashley Snesavage had 28 assists, four kills and three aces as Blue Mountain defeated Lehighton 30-28, 25-14, 25-18 in a Division I match.
Nicole McQuillan posted seven kills and three blocks for the division champion Eagles (17-1, 12-1 D-I). Hannah Long added 12 digs.
Lehighton’s Katie Higgins registered six kills and 22 digs for the Indians (11-7, 8-5). Alyssa Jordan contributed eight kills and 12 digs.
Blue Mountain won JV 2-0.

MINERSVILLE — Emily Bartashus recorded 12 kills and five digs as the Battlin’ Miners swept the Wreckers 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 in a Division IV match.
Alexis Huntzinger contributed seven kills, Meg Schwalm added 26 digs, and Maura Bentz finished with 18 assists, two kills and two aces for Minersville (17-2, 13-2 D-IV).
Lexi Hartz compiled six points, three aces, three kills and two digs for Weatherly (7-12, 4-11). Emily Zoscin added two points, two aces and two kills, Samantha Andreuzzi collected three points and seven blocks and Megan McClintock registered three points, three kills and two digs.
Minersville won JV 2-0.

Shannon Reiley registered three aces and five digs and Olivia Smarr tallied two aces, two kills and one block as the Green Wave swept their Senior Night match from the Hurricanes 25-11, 25-13, 25-17 in Division IV action atop Lawton’s Hill.
Jocelyn Holobetz compiled two aces, nine kills and 11 digs for Nativity (15-2, 15-0 D-IV). Ashley Strausser had 10 kills and five digs, Carley Lionetto collected 11 digs and Cele DiNicola compiled eight kills.
Maddy Felty posted seven digs and eight kills, Tori Pascucci collected 10 digs and Ashley Ferrando totaled four digs and eight assists for Schuylkill Haven (4-15, 3-12).
Nativity won JV 2-0.

HALIFAX — Maddie Deibert totaled eight aces and nine kills as the Dawgs earned a 25-8, 25-21, 25-18 sweep of the Wildcats in a Division III match.
Cat Troutman added one ace, five kills and three digs, Reagan Newswanger compiled three aces and 18 assists, and Kat Sherry tallied three kills for Division III champion Tri-Valley. (15-2, 12-2 D-III).
For Halifax (13-5, 9-5), Jordyn Ashberry collected three aces, 10 assists and three digs and Kendall Lehman registered eight kills, two aces and three digs. Emily Miller posted seven kills and three digs and Tori Lupold had 10 digs.

ELIZABETHVILLE — Laura Sweger collected 20 kills, four blocks and five digs as the Trojans beat the Indians 17-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-16 in a Division III match.
Alexis Weaver added 13 assists, three kills and eight digs, while Mickayla Grow finished with 11 assists, one kill and six digs for Upper Dauphin (12-8, 7-7 D-III).
For Millersburg (7-10, 5-9), Taryn Herb collared 14 kills, 14 digs and two aces, Emily Schade added 16 assists, and Cassidy Prince totaled 13 service points, three kills and nine digs.
Upper Dauphin won JV 2-0.

COAL TOWNSHIP — Leanna Gregas had 14 kills and four aces to lead North Schuylkill to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-23 sweep of winless Lourdes in a Division II match.
Sammy Shinkus had 18 kills for the Spartans (6-10, 4-9 D-II) while Grace Major had 12 kills and two aces. Kira Marlow had four kills and three digs. Vanessa Ferraiolo had 41 assists.
Francis Czeponis collected five kills and three blocks for the Red Raiders (0-19, 0-13).Carly Jurasich added six assists and Maya Yoder finished with 10 digs and three kills.

Callie Edwards added 13 assists, nine digs and two aces and Maddilyn Carey contributed 13 digs for Pine Grove (5-11, 5-8 D-II).
Carly Kosciolek led Tamaqua (3-13, 1-12 D-I) with 11 kills and three blocks, Mackenzie McVicker collected 10 kills and nine blocks and Alexis Baddick totaled three kills and four digs.
Tamaqua won JV 2-1.
