via NCP forfeit
Nativity’s scheduled home football game Saturday against National Collegiate Prep School from Washington, D.C., will not happen, the school announced Wednesday.
The Green Wave will be awarded a forfeit, improving Nativity’s record this season to 2-6.
Tamaqua to hold
‘Pink Out’ game
vs. Blue Mtn.
TAMAQUA — The Tamaqua Area School District will hold its annual “Pink Out” football game Friday when the Blue Raiders host Blue Mountain in an Anthracite Football League contest at 7:05 p.m.
Both teams, bands, cheerleaders and spectators have been encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
Prior to kickoff, a ceremonial coin toss will held featuring Tamaqua Area High School math teacher Karen Campomizzi, who is battling breast cancer. Campomizzi and her husband, John, live in the Blue Mountain School District, and their children, John and Lisa, attended Blue Mountain schools.
“Pink Out” T-shirts and other pink items will be available for sale Friday at the stadium.
Weatherly rallies
past Spartans
in boys’ soccer
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Jake Stover scored four goals, including the game-winner, as Weatherly outlasted North Schuylkill 5-3 in a non-league boys’ soccer match Wednesday.
Paul Caputo scored twice for the Spartans, who tied the game on an own goal with 29:14 left.
Stover then scored 37 seconds later to give the Wreckers the lead for good.
