Online ‘Trophy Room’ accepting photos

from area hunters

Successful bear, deer and fall turkey hunters and anglers may submit their digital photos to the online “Trophy Room” of The Republican-Herald. Photos should be tight shots that focus on the animal and the hunter, with the sporting arm used if desired.

The Republican-Herald reserves the right to refuse publication of a photo if deemed to be in poor taste.

Mentored youth hunters may be photographed with their mentee.

Include the name of the hunter and mentee if applicable, size and/or weight information for the animal, sporting arm used, date and county taken.

Photos can be uploaded at

Trout Unlimited,

Haven Recreation

support youth anglers

The Schuylkill County Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department have formed a partnership to promote youth fishing in Schuylkill Haven with their “Lend A Rod Program” that will expand in the future to classes.

Rods will be lent to children learning to fish by the recreation department to those coming to the recreation office with a parent or guardian and filling out a form. There is no cost to receive a rod, but supplies are limited.

Rods are to be returned to the recreation department in condition similar to when they were received so that they may be used in the future.

Schuylkill Trout Unlimited is supporting the program by supplying rods and terminal tackle, and the chapter plans to offer classes and other events in the Schuylkill Haven area.

Schuylkill Haven has fishing opportunities within the town limits at Bubeck Park in Stoyer’s Dam and also at the Island Park complex in the Schuylkill River.

For information, access the recreation department website at www.havenrec.com/
