ORWIGSBURG — Mikayla Bates scored twice, the second coming in overtime, as No. 8 seed Notre Dame-Green Pond upset No. 1 Blue Mountain 2-1 during the District 11 Class AA quarterfinals Thursday at the Eagles’ Nest.

Bates scored in the first half to give the Crusaders (12-6) a 1-0 halftime lead. The Eagles’ Kaitlyn Yeakley set up Sydney Riegel in the second half to force overtime.

Blue Mountain (17-4-1), fresh off Saturday’s Schuylkill League title victory, held a 9-4 advantage on shots on goal in the game. M’Kenna Murphy had six saves for Notre Dame-Green Pond.

LEHIGHTON — Joe Marks scored four goals and added an assist, and Patrick Lawler recorded a hat trick as No. 2 seed Lehighton survived two early deficits to beat No. 7 Notre Dame-Green Pond in a Class AA quarterfinal.

Lawler’s goal just 36 seconds into the second half broke a 4-4 tie for the Indians, who held on to defeat the upset-minded Crusaders.
