WILLIAMSTOWN — Williams Valley’s quest for a District 11 Class A playoff spot continued Friday night in a Tri-Valley League tilt with Line Mountain.

Quarterback Nick Rodichok led the Vikings to a 42-7 blowout victory over the Eagles, completing 9-of-12 passes for 177 yards and four touchdown passes.

Dylan Rabuck ran for 142 yards on 11 carries, scoring a touchdown on the ground and through the air for Williams Valley.

Jake Wolfgang hauled in three passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns to pace a Vikings receiving corps that saw six different players make catches.

“Nick’s been getting over one hundred yards in the first half basically every week, and he has some great athletes around him at the skill positions who are the best at what they do,” Williams Valley coach Tim Savage said. “It gets tough to call the offense when you’re trying to get the ball to everybody, but it keeps defenses on their heels.”

Williams Valley’s defense held Line Mountain to 32 yards passing, sacking quarterback Kurt Mace twice, while Ken Reed had an interception for the Vikings.

The Eagles lone touchdown came on a 43-yard run from Mace on the final play of the game.

Mace led Line Mountain with 87 rushing yards on 13 carries, while running back Brent Osman picked up 69 yards on 16 carries.

“Williams Valley’s defense held us in check for most of the night, but Mace stepped up in the quarterback position and ran the ball well,” Eagles coach Rodney Knock said. “He and Osman did a good job for us offensively, breaking loose for a few good runs here and there.”

Line Mountain got the ball to open the first quarter and marched down to the 14-yard line thanks to a 12-yard pass from Mace to Breven Derk.

The Vikings’ defense managed to tighten up, stopping the Eagles on a fourth-and-2 to swing the momentum in their favor. It became a recurring theme throughout the game.

“We had a couple drives like that initial one where we picked up a couple first downs, and we just didn’t make the plays that we needed to make at critical points,” Knock said. “It was in short yardage situations where we made mistakes, so we have to work on that and take advantage of those opportunities.”

Williams Valley then got four passing touchdowns from Rodichok, with two going to Wolfgang, and one each to Nick Savage and Dylan Rabuck to go up 30-0 at halftime.

The Vikings opened the second half with an 83-yard kick return for a touchdown by Levi Engle, followed by Dylan Rabuck’s 67-yard rushing TD to go up 42-0 at the end of the third quarter.

“We looked really good on offense,” Savage said. “The spacing of the receivers, the delivery of the ball and the protection up front all looked really good, so I couldn’t be happier with them.”
